Biography:
Thomas E. Drendel has successfully tried to jury verdicts, cases involving professional malpractice, medical malpractice, automobile injury, premises liability and wrongful termination. In addition to his trial experience he has successfully achieved million dollar settlements in cases as diverse as toxic environmental contamination, forest fires, product liability, worker's rights, and sexual abuse by psychologists, psychiatrists, and members of the religious clergy.
Mr. Drendel has also been extremely active during his career as an advocate on behalf of injured individuals at the Nevada Supreme Court as the Chairman of the Amicus Curiae Committee of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, where he served from 1990 until 2006. For 15 years he coordinated strategy for several precedent setting cases at the Nevada Supreme Court on behalf of injured victims in a variety of cases involving insurance, medical malpractice, products liability, construction defects, admissibility of evidence, and other diverse matters. Mr. Drendel also served on the Board of Governors of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association for several years, and for five years was the editor of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association magazine, THE ADVOCATE. During his tenure, he wrote over 20 articles on various legal topics. Throughout his career, he has written and served as a lecturer and moderator at seminars on a variety of legal topics concerning personal injury matters for the State Bar of Nevada, the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, the Professional Education Society of America, the Nevada Orthopedic Society, the Peoples Law School, and other local business organizations and schools. He has also lobbied on several bills at the Nevada State Legislature regarding rights of Nevada consumers. Mr. Drendel is currently an active member of the State Bar of Nevada, American Bar Association, Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, and Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Mr. Drendel is a Nevada native, and after graduation from the University of Nevada-Reno and McGeorge Pacific School of Law, was admitted to the Nevada bar in 1983, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit in 1992, and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1998.
