JOHN BIENVENU

Mr. Bienvenu was an associate attorney with the firm from 1990 to 1993 and rejoined the firm as a partner in 2004. His practice focuses on civil litigation in the areas of employment discrimination, civil rights, sexual harassment, first amendment violations, consumer law, business torts and serious injuries and accidents. He has served as lead counsel in class actions and other complex civil disputes and has been retained as an expert witness in the proper handling of civil litigation.
Education: Mr. Bienvenu was educated at the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Grenoble, and the University of New Mexico, where he received his B.A. (summa cum laude) in 1985. He received his legal training at Stanford Law School, obtaining his J.D ("With Distinction") in 1988. He also received a diploma in trial advocacy from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy in 1991, and has lectured on trial advocacy at the University of New Mexico School of Law.
Prior Positions: Mr. Bienvenu practiced law in Silicon Valley with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison from 1988 to 1990. From 1990 to 1993, Mr. Bienvenu was an associate attorney with this firm. From 1993 to 2003, Mr. Bienvenu was the principal in the Bienvenu Law Firm in Santa Fe, NM.
Professional Memberships: Mr. Bienvenu is admitted to practice in New Mexico and California (inactive status). He is a member of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association. He is a member of the New Mexico Supreme Court Rules of Evidence Committee. He is also a Master of the Bench with the Oliver Seth American Inn of the Court. Mr. Bienvenu is a member and cooperating attorney with the America Civil Liberties. Mr. Bienvenu is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell.
